Senior Vice President of Family & Youth Asset Development
Y of Central Maryland
Christine Ader-Soto is responsible for curriculum leadership of all Y Journeys for Children and Youth programs with particular emphasis for our programs for at-risk youth inclusive of Head Start children and youth enrolled in our grant funded after-school programs. She leads the Y’s efforts to integrate the Search Institute’s Asset Development program into Y programming for children and youth. This approach identifies multiple assets needed in a child’s life to help assure confidence and success as they develop. Developmental assets range from feelings like “I feel cared for” to more concrete evidence of support such as the consistent presence of a responsible adult in a child’s life. The more developmental assets present in a child’s life, the greater likelihood of success later in life.
Chris is also responsible to secure grants that support the Y’s mission and help us reach more children, youth and families.
Throughout her career, Ader-Soto has participated in several advisory boards, committees and task forces including the Lt. Governor’s After School Task Force and the Maryland Committee for Children. She also served as a Y of the USA Child Care Specialist. Chris lives in Harford County with her husband and teen-age son.
